I stopped in and got catfish fillets for my husband and added fried shrimp. Everything was amazing. An older lady took my order over the phone and she was extremely helpful. Sydney did the rest and made sure I had my sauces and fresh lemon. This was some of the best seafood we've had since moving back here from Charleston, SC. Wonderful experience. Thank y'all so much. Great job everyone

The sign says it all...HOME OF FAMOUS CATFISH!! Locally operated and very well established in the community. The dining experience is a simple one with good, fresh mostly fried foods. The service is always good and the fish is crispy and delicious! They only serve filet fish now (no longer whole catfish). Slaw is just ok, hush puppies are decent, but the fish is always great!! If you like catfish you will have to give them a try...don't think you'll be disappointed!!

The food here is great!, The catfish here always tastes fresh and well cooked, other things on the menu I liked were the burgers, which were also fresh tasting!, I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and never been disappointed!

Always impressed with Newbern’s! The food was amazing as well as the service. The portions are more than enough. I’m partial to one server named Kayla. Also, this place is extremely clean.

If you want great food and great service you need to try this place. Down home people that remind you why dealing with a family owned business is so much better than the big chain places . We will be back and I will highly recommend them.

Lucky are the eaters who come through the doors of Newbern’s! Grab your own seat inside this roadside eatery, and have a taste of some classic Southern staples. Their famous pond fed catfish dominates the menu. Everything is fried, yet never greasy, with the catfish being crisply coated with a flakey interior, and none of the fishlike flavour of your typical river fish. A medium plate offers three catfish fillets, a side of your choosing, hushpuppies, and slaw. Wash it all down with your choice of sweet or unsweetened tea, of course. The service is charmingly friendly, and the restaurant is efficiently family run. It’s bustling yet still casual, and as Southern as you can get! Whether you’re driving south on HWY 72, or just visiting, don’t skip out on this gem.
